Congratulations to Ruthie Foster on her Grammy Nomination:
[Blue Corn Music]
for
Best Contemporary Blues Album!
I was lucky enough to work with Ruthie Foster on my album ‘Wild Onions… Eat’ em Raw”. I tell no lie when I say Ruthie laid down some true blue vocals for me there at Atlantic Recording Studios.
I remember the first time I met Ruthie - It was at Atlantic Records Recording
Studio.
Ahmet Ertegun had let me in his studio at Atlantic and introduced me to John
Mahoney (Atlantic Producer Engineer).
I asked John if he any idea of who we could hire to sing and contribute their
own flavor to the songs I was recording. I remember him playing me some tracks
of some of the female vocalists he had there - Nothing really grabbed me until
... Whamm ! I heard Ruthie ! What a voice ! “I knew you'd pick her anyway”, he
said “.. she’s on her way over!”
Ruthie was the missing ingredient - as a matter of fact - she was all my
ingredients - I kept asking and she kept giving.
To this day I have never ever worked together with a better singer and
collaborator. Ruthie is a pro - and a friend .It’s no surprise that she
is up for an award now --- I don’t know why it took this long - I
was nominated for my CD Ruthie performed on with me – It’s no accident
that her voice is there being heard again.
I'm honored to have worked with Ruthie, and I hope you will all wish her the Best of Luck for Grammy Night!
-Jeff Greene
You can hear her singing on ‘Rome Burned’,
‘Where I come From’ and ‘Labor of Love’ on the album “Wild Onions…Eat ‘em Raw’(soon to be re-released- thanks to everyone who asked).

I, and others, are missing him especially now, during the preparations for the inauguration of President elect Obama. If Mr. Litkei had been here to write 'The President Barack Obama March', I know he would have been so proud. He was an insightful man, a man of change himself.
Mr. Litkei took me under his wing, some years ago, asking my opinion in the daily operations of his companies, including Aurora Records, so that I was offering my opinions (and he was using them!) on the marketing of acts such as Phil Collins, George Michaels, and the Disney records.
When Mr. Litkei worked with Ahmet Ertegun to make me an Atlantic Recording artist, I worked with John Mahoney, and I recorded my first album, 'Wild Onions', which was Grammy nominated for Best Album and Best Song (Wild Onions is due for re-release soon).
It is time, and I think it is fate, that I should now be resurrecting the companies he left to me, including Aurora Records. Although a flood (and subsequent ongoing fight with the insurance company) has delayed me for years, not to mention how the flood (and careless, reckless, (and possibly worse) handling by the insurance company's representatives & workers) destroyed much of what I would have been carefully curating now, items of much historical worth to more than just the music community
There is so much this great man had to offer the world, sharing his music and his vision, his legacy, is the least I can do.
